Being a hairbrained fool I’ve put another deposit down – on a Renault Zoe this time.
They’ve just given us official pricing at £13, 650 OTR. Much more affordable, although I’m always reluctant to buy brand new cars. I had a few concerns about the general whiteness of the vehicle and the fact that L’Oreal spray perfume at you as you drive.. But these press shots of the car in black and with a nice glass roof have allayed my “slightly needing to be male” fears. Renault are saying its good for 60 miles in suburban use in the winter, and claim a 30 minute charge on a three phase 63A charge. Could this car actually be affordable and useful at the same time? Hopefully I’ll get a camera on it soon..

LOL! Oh, you fickle EV buyer you! I thought you had re-pre-bought the Leaf? But- the Zoe looks nice, and I saw the pricing elsewhere today- it is cheaper than the Leaf. Hopefully it is as well built. Look forward to your video review of it, when you get the chance.
What is the point of having an electric car then paying £65 per month to lease the battery.
It defeats the point.
@David Good point. The leasing is not that attractive when you consider the purchase price stacked up against other small cars. However, I did put new lead acid batteries in the GWiz last year and they cost the best part of £2500. Reva say they should last for three years or so with regular cycles – I got 5 out of my last set, but that works out at a shade over £69 per month based on 36 months. The advantage of leasing could mean that as battery technology improves, one gets to benefit.
@Paul – good to hear from you. Yep, another one. There just seems to be such an absence of affordable electric cars available to buy I always think its worth the £50 refundable deposit. But to be honest its going to need to be pretty good to beat the Wiz on price and practicality..
